What Is Cataract?

It is an aging process that takes place in our eyes. A cataract is simply a clouding of your naturally clear eye lens. If you have a cataract, looking through the cloudy lens is a little like trying to see through a fog or a frosted window.

Cause & Symptoms Of Cataract

Two main groups of causes cataract: hereditary and diabetic. Cataract is more common in people with diabetes. In fact, cataract in diabetic individuals has been found to be twice as common as in those without diabetes. Since cataract is caused by excessive protein in the lens, any changes in diet, exercise, and lifestyle can lead to an improvement or even prevention of diabetic cataract.

Treatments For Cataract

The treatments that are most successful in relieving the symptoms of cataract are the same treatments used for other types of impairments. The doctor will perform a physical examination and take a medical history. He will also order tests to see if there are any other separate issues that could be causing the cataract to develop. When he identifies other factors involved with your condition he can tailor an appropriate treatment plan.
